By the time you read this, I will probably be in the middle of a conference up in Syracuse. And, of course, two days before my long drive to upstate New York, the Check Engine light decides to go on. Hoping it was just a false alarm, I ended up having to have a couple of things fixed. Oh well. Look at the bright side: my wallet won’t be weighing me down as much on my trip.
Anyway, let’s take a look at the last weekend of the Festivals of Food: The Summer Edition, and there’s quite a lot taking place:
* The Taste of Greece festival at Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Toms River is taking place right now and will run until Sunday. We’ll have to see if we can fit this one into our weekend plans.
* The Battleship New Jersey is hosting Celebrate Jersey Fresh Day on Saturday from 11AM to 3PM. Sample food produced from around the state.
* Out in Millville, WheatonArts is having its Festival of India today and tomorrow. Never had Indian food? Give it a try – it’s the awesome!
* Tomorrow is also the day that the Hispanic Heritage Family Festival is being held in Woodbine.
The Fall Edition of the Festivals of Food will be posted on Monday, even if it kills me. Hopefully, it won’t come to that.
Restaurant-wise, The Tortilla Press is having a special tour on Saturday of the Collingswood Farmers Market, which will be followed by a lunch back at the restaurant. Can’t make it? No problem – another tour and lunch will take place on October 11th.
And one final article of note: the pumpkin crop this year looks to be a good one!
Enjoy the last gasps of summer this weekend!
