Friday Foodstuffs – 10.3.08: Chowderfest!!!

Listen, I know that I use Friday to get you all ready for the weekend events..but as far I am concerned, there really is only one event going on…

Chowderfest. LBI.

Yes, this Sunday Lisa, Julian and I (along with a couple of visiting friends) will be armed with spoons, and we will NOT be afraid to use them! We’re bringing the appetites as well. Yes, the event is two days, but the chowder tasting and judging takes place on Sunday. Chowderfest, you’ve been warned.

BUT – if you’re not planning on attending, there are a number of fine events taking place this weekend. A good portion of the Oktoberfest events mentioned earlier this week are happening this weekend, so please refer back to my post from Tuesday. In addition, feast (heh heh…food humor) your eyes on these shindigs:

TONIGHT: the Gloucester County College Foundation is holding its 2nd Annual Wine & Chocolate Tasting down in Sewell. You also have the Harvest of Hope event taking place at Caesars in Atlantic City.

TOMORROW: Wildwood is holding its Seafood and Music Festival, while a Wine Tasting Benefit for Moorestown Visiting Nurses & Hospice will take place in, well, Moorestown.

TOMORROW and SUNDAY: Bordentown will be having its annual Cranberry Festival, and, of course…Chowderfest!!! (I guess you can tell that I’m a little excited about it.)

SUNDAY: Renault Winery in Egg Harbor City is the place for an October Festival & Craft Show.

Lastly, on a more disappointing note, Philabundance was denied a permit to distribute free food in Willingboro. While I agree that Philabundance should have done their homework in making sure they needed a permit, it doesn’t sound like ‘Boro officials went out of their way to help. I hope some other solution can be found so that families that need the fresh produce can obtain it.
