There are many many MANY New Years Eve dining events going on in South Jersey. Compiling a list of all of them would be possible for me to do – provided, of course, that I ignored stuff like my family, eating meals, basic hygiene, taking bathroom breaks, etc. You get the idea.
And then, just to make things more interesting, we get a nasty virus on the computer that knocks us offline for five days. Wonderful…just wonderful. So, the carefully planned post I wanted to do gets kicked to the curb, and it’s practically New Years Eve now anyway – so if you’re still looking to do something, check out these events: Cape May is the place to be if you want in your schelebration.
The Ebbitt Room at The Virginia, with Lucas Manteca at the helm, is having a special menu for $95, with an additional wine pairing available for $35 more. Seatings will be from 5:30PM to 10PM. If you want some additional glitter with your schwank, Congress Hall has The Glitter Ball from 7PM to 1AM for $165 per person.
You say you like schwank but Cape May is a bit far or you? ‘kay…how about Riverside? Cafe Madison on Lafayette Street still has 6PM and 9PM seatings still available for their multi-course celebration. Not near the river side? How about the ocean side? Then check out daddy O on LBI and their special a la carte menu.Hey John, you might saying – enough with the schwank! Well then, look no further than our friends at
Tortilla Press in Collingswood. Their NYE menu is only $29.95 per person, and I can certainly vouch for the quality of the meal that you will get. And they’re even going to have a special kids meal tonight. For only $45 a person, enjoy a great offering of small plates from Elements Cafe in Haddon Heights from 4:30PM to 10PM. And, for only $80 a couple, check out the Old Oar House Irish Pub in Millville and their five-course dinner.Chefs showcasing their best stuff for 2009 is a popular theme for tonight. Bacio Italian Cuisine in Cinnaminson gives you Chef Robert’s greatest hits of the year starting at 8PM. The same will be happening tonight with Chef Randy at Carolina Blue in Pitman.
Maybe you have a hard time making a decision. If this applies, then head to The Pier Shops at Caesars in AC and pick from any of the seven restaurants up on the third floor as part of the Mix. Mingle. Celebrate! event tonight. Or, just point your car Cherry Hill-ways and pick from a $60 special Provencal meal at Dream Cuisine Cafe, a Chef’s a la carte menu at Caffe Aldo Lamberi or a special evening out at Mirabella Cafe.
Downtown on Irons on Main Street in Toms River will have a 6PM and an 8:30PM seating tonight, and for $60 enjoy a special menu that will include appetizers choices of Teriyaki Duck Breast with Spring Roll of Confit Leg and Cranberry Glaze, Bouillabaisse and Tempura Shrimp with Buckwheat Noodles with Sate Sauce and Scallions. Entree choices include: Mesquite Bacon wrapped Tenderloin with Cheddar Horseradish Potato Cake and Bourbon Mango Glaze, Stuffed Veal Chop with Prosciutto, Mozzarella and Basil over Roasted Garlic Mashed and Wild Mushroom Reduction and Red Snapper stuffed with Spinach and Goat Cheese and wrapped in Filo with Herb Roasted Fingerlings and Burre Blanc. Yum.
Salem County! Yes, let’s go out there and see what’s shaking tonight. J.G. Cook’s Riverview Inn is having a fun shindig with open bar, plenty of hors d’oeuvres and and yummy entrees for $85 a person. And I believe that Salem City Cafe still has a few spots left for their late seating tonight for their six-course meal and midnight champagne toast.
Whatever you do – even you’re just hanging at home with family (like we will be), enjoy yourself tonight!
