We try to be a resource for those of you here in South Jersey, which is why we regularly list food events that will be taking place in the upcoming weeks. This also applies towards cooking classes and demonstrations that are being offered throughout the area. So when a new cooking school opens up, we get all a-tingly.
Starting June 1st, a new school will be offering classes down in Atlantic City. A new branch of the Viking Cooking School, offered through the Viking Range Corporation, is opening at Harrah’s in AC. And there will be classes literally every day, ranging (heh-heh, cooking humor) from Italian dinner parties to Thai food explosions. The classes look to be 12 people in size, and you can see on their site of a class is full or close to being full (which is a nice feature). And if you miss a certain class, it looks like they bring back classes on a regular basis so you can get another opportunity. The cost of each class can be anywhere from $75 to $120, which is a little bit more than what Kitchen Kapers in Moorestown charges, but hey – it’s in a casino, and you have to expect that. You can start signing up for classes NOW, so click onto the link above to go to their site. We will do our best to keep up to date on what they are offering as well.
If you’re looking for something a little bit more, maybe even a career in cooking, registration for fall classes for the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College is now open. The ACA has been training folks for about 30 years now for careers in culinary arts, food service management and baking and pastry. But if you’re not looking for a new career, ACA also has classes for those looking just to beef up their cooking skeelz at home.
Oh, and did I mention that ACA has an on-site restaurant called Careme’s? Well I have now!
