Once again, it’s that time of year. I feel an urge that cannot be denied. I am…compelled…
Take Mom to a winery!
It seems like only a year ago that I talked to you about this, and as it happens the calendar comes back around and – jumanji – it’s May again. So do something a little different for Mommy this time; enjoy a pleasant day out and partake in a wine tasting. And the member wineries of the Garden State Wine Growers Association are doing more than just wine tastings this weekend (May 7 and 8). Let’s take a look and see what else is going on at the South Jersey wineries, shall we? Yes – I think we shall:
Amalthea Cellars (Atco)
Yes, you can get a regular complimentary wine tasting, but for $10 you can get to sample Amalthea’s best of the best – their best vintages past and present. That would be a treat for sure.
Auburn Road Vineyard & Winery (Pilesgrove)
You desperately need to take Mom to brunch? OK, we can do that AND get thee to a winery. From 11AM to 2PM, Auburn Road will be having a Mother’s Day Brunch for $18.50 a person.
Bellview Winery (Landisville)
Give Mom her just desserts with a buffet of tasty sweet treat for $5. Cheese samplings will also be available.
Cape May Winery & Vineyard (Cape May)
Free wine tastings, some fudge treats to nibble, and a a tree sapling for you, too. Would not recommend nibbling on the sapling, though.
Cedarvale Winery (Logan Twp)
There will be a craft & car show with live music going. For $5, you can enjoy a wine tasting and keep the glass.
Coda Rossa (Franklinville)
Oh, this sounds like yum: wine tasting and paella, for only $5.
Hawk Haven Vineyard and Winery (Rio Grande)
Enjoy Mom’s Day weekend from Friday through Sunday at Hawk Haven, and the wine tasting and glass are free. For You can also enjoy wines by the glass for $5-10, and cheese plates from Seaside Cheese for $12.
Heritage Vineyards (Mullica Hill)
For $8, enjoy a wine tasting (with some new releases mixed in), winery tour and live music. A sampling of their exclusive vintages is available for an additional $5.
Laurita Winery (New Egypt)
Jazz on Saturday, classic rock and roll on Sunday, and a country dance party Saturday night (for $7 – $5 if you buy in advance). Of course, there’s wines to be tasted, roses to be handed out (to the first 100 moms), and food. And if you buy three wines, get 10% off and a $1 discount for a pie from Emery’s Organic Berry Farm.
Plagido’s Winery (Hammonton)
Wine tasting, some light nibbles and dessert for $5…and take the glass home. Some new wines will be available to sample for the first time.
Sharrott Winery (Blue Anchor)
Wine, cheese, chocolate and flower…and all complimentary for Mom. Not too shabby.
Valenzano Winery (Shamong)
Enjoy live music and a wine tasting for $5. For $15, not only do you get the tasting but you also get the full lunch spread.
Wagonhouse Winery (Swedesboro tasting room)
Free wine tasting and chocolate for Mom, and really, do you need much more than that?
In addition, Arrive in Style Luxury Limousine is offering two great packages that will be taking place this weekend. There’s a Brunch & Wine Tour package, which starts with the brunch at Auburn Road at 11:30. Then, you are taken on a tour of three different wineries: Wagonhouse, Cedarvale and Heritage. The cost is $63.50 a person, but it does not include any tasting fees at the other locations. There is also a Wine Tour & Dinner package that starts at Barone’s in Woolwich Twp at 12:30 and then goes to Auburn Road, Heritage, Wagonhouse and Cedarvale. You are then brought back to Barone’s at 4:30 for dinner. The cot for the whole tour and dinner package is $73; for just the wine tour it’s $45, and it’s $35 for just the dinner.
