There was once a time when a special restaurant week was indeed a rare event. I know I know, you might that a bit hard to believe, but it’s true.
Nowadays, of course, you can’t throw a dart at a calendar and not hit some kind of restaurant week in progress on the day you pierce. Why are there are so many restaurant weeks now? It’s an economy thing. Restaurant owners and associations are trying to come up with ideas to increase traffic, and when they see something that is working in other places they say ‘Well, why not try it here.’ With the success of Atlantic City’s restaurant week, other shore towns are looking to try their hand at weekly discounts and reasonably-priced prix fixe meals to entice diners to give ’em a try.
What’s interesting now is that a number of shore communities seem to be running their restaurant weeks all around the same time. Does that make it a strength in numbers thing, or do they take away each others’ thunder? That remains to be seen.
But we here at EiSJ do not pick sides, for the most part, so here are the upcoming restaurants weeks, what’s the deal, and who is participating:

The Flavor of Sea Isle City – Restaurant Week 2011 (6/3-10)
I would love to give you the details regarding their restaurant week, but the details have not been announced yet. As soon as they are, we will update this post.
7 Mile Restaurant Week (6/3-12)
This is the restaurant week for Avalon and Stone Harbor, and they’re talking about over 40 restaurants participating. I would list them all, but they have a cool website (cooler by a mile, I hear) that lists all the places and which deals they are offering. The only problem is that it’s still showing last year’s participants. So, use their facebook page to see this year’s list.
And what deals are they offering? Breakfast for $9.11, lunch for 2 for $20.11, or a 3-course dinner for $29.11.
Cape May Restaurant Week (6/5-12)
It’s their fourth restaurant week, but it’s not the fourth year they have held one. When they first started this, Cape May had one week in the spring and one in the fall. Now it seems like they have settled on one for the year. Their website keeps you up-to-date as to which restaurants are participating, as well as their facebook page.
As has been the case since their first restaurant week, the one in Cape May offers a two-tiered option for dinner; some restaurants will have a $35.11 prix fixe, while others will offer a $22.11 dinner. In addition, participating restaurants will offer lunch for $17.11 per person.
Wildwood Restaurant Week (6/19-24 AND 8/28-9/2)
Wildwood is giving you two chances this summer to attend their restaurant week. And their deal is easy to remember: a four-course meal for $30 at participating restaurants. There are over 20 restaurants that are part of Restaurant Week, and some of them include locations in North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest.
Ocean City Restaurant Week (6/20-26)
Don’t have the details yet as far as which restaurants are participating in Restaurant Week, but we do know that they will be offering a 2 for 1 meal deal.
