Friday (into Saturday) Foodstuffs 12.9.11: From the EiSJ News Desk…

And now from the Eating in South Jersey news desk, this is South Jersey food news update…

The big story this week is certainly the announcement that Iron Chef and Philly famous Jose Garces is going to be running three restaurants at the new Revel megacasino, which is planning for a Spring 2012 opening. The three restaurants will be: Amada (a Spanish tapas bar), Distrito Cantina (a Mexican street food and tequila bar) and Village Whiskey (comfort food and cocktails). We have been waiting to see what Revel was going to do regarding the restaurants they would be opening, and this is their first salvo fired. Pretty impressive, Revel.

Those Tough Cookies have brought their Ocean City act to Voorhees and opened a new Crazy Susan’s this week.

Seven Star Diner in Deptford had a fire on Tuesday, but was able to reopen the next day.

And a sigh of relief was breathed by yours truly about the news that Shut Up and Eat! in Toms River had not closed but had simply changed location…again. You can now find them at the old Friendly’s location on Main Street.

And now to our Blogging Out Hunger desk…

The Courier-Post is running its Feed Our Neighbors campaign right now to help collect food for the FoodBank of South Jersey.

Miracle Fitness in Cape May County is currently holding a food drive through December 16.

And Holy Redeemer Food pantry in Swainton is looking for food and money donations to help keep up with demand.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
