Valentine’s Day South Jersey-Style for 2012

Valentine’s Day is coming on quickly. You have two options: get out of the way and be a grump, or go ahead and embrace the love. And while embracing said love, how about working in a special food or wine event to accentuate the positive?

There are so many special Valentine’s Day menus and events going on – so many that I could not fit them all. But here’s a bunch to consider:

Two big boffo events will be going on around and during V-Day: LBI Chocolate Week and the Wine and Chocolate Wine Trail Weekend in wineries all over the state. Chocolate Week on LBI goes from February 11 to 20, and will have events going on all over the island. Some of the events include: chocolate and fudge tastings, chocolate pretzel classes, and the 2012 Cocoa open, a miniature golf tournament. Check the website for dates and times. The Wine and Chocolate Wine Trail Weekend will have special events going on at participating wineries on February 11 and 12. Some of the goings on include:

* Bellview Winery in Landisville will not only have chocolate treats, but they will have chocolate covered…wine bottles?

* At Coda Rossa in Franklinville, they will have the chocolate fountain a-flowin’. Related to Coda Rossa, The Wine Room of Cherry Hill will present For the Love of Tango, Wine, Dinner and Dancing on Valentine’s Day from 6PM to 10PM. The cost is $45 per person.

* Hawk Haven in Rio Grande is having a special Valentine’s Weekend Wine Dinner and if you want to go you better call quick; they keep selling out seatings!

* Swansea Vineyards in Shiloh is offering a Private Pairing that includes wine, chocolate and cheese tastings for two for $25.

* In addition to having wine and chocolate tastings, Valenzano Winery in Shamong will be having a Valentines Wine & Dine on February 11 at 7PM in their ballroom. The four-course dinner is $60 per person.

Although it’s not part of the Wine and Chocolate Wine Trail Weekend, Golden Inn Resort Hotel in Avalon is having a very sexy Romantic Valentines French Wine Weekend from Friday through Sunday. The cost is $459 per couple, but if you got the funds it sounds like it will be worth it.

If it’s beer you crave for V-Day, Cape May Brewing will be offering a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Stout this Saturday during their regular tasting hours.

Anything going on in Atlantic City for Valentine’s Day? As if…

The Caesars properties will have a number of their restaurants offering special prix fixe dinners for Valentine’s Day. At Harrah’s, check out Luke Palladino ($45 per person), Dos Caminos ($30 per person), and The Steakhouse ($55 per person).
