Eating, Drinking and Cooking in South Jersey This Weekend (6/15-17)

Sunday is Dad’s Day, and speaking as a dad I know that at some point I’m going to want to eat something. Pretty much every restaurant in the area is going to be having some kind of Father’s Day special, so instead of just smacking you about the head with a myriad of options, I’m giving you just a few that sound pretty interesting.

Every once in a while, Dad deserves a trip to AC. How about this Sunday? Revel has got some great options for you: a Bourbon and Burger Special at Village Whiskey for only $20 a person (nice!), or perhaps an all-day BBQ at Mussel Bar that has on the menu a grilled bone-in ribeye, grilled bratwurst, smoked half chicken and a grilled veal chop. Meanwhile, at Carmine’s at The Quarter at Tropicana will be serving a 36-ounce prime rib chop for $69 and a  Four Pasta platter for $40. You know you won’t be leaving Carmine’s hungry.

Does Dad like beer? Heh heh…as if. Iron Hill in Maple Shade will be having a Father’s Day Beer Lunch from 12PM to 2PM. The cost is $55 per person. At High Street Grill in Mount Holly, there will be a Goose Island Father’s Day Beer Dinner at 7PM for $45 per person.

Does Dad like wine? How about a Father’s Day Barbeque at Bellview Winery in Landisville. the ‘cue is being provided by Lazy River BBQ and it only will cost you $5 to enjoy.

Does Dad like pig roasts? Meat BBQ in Forked River is having a Father’s Day Parking Lot Pig Roast with seatings at 12:30PM, 3PM and 5:30PM. Dad (and Mom, too) can fill their bellies with porky goodness for only $21.99 each, and it’s only $9.99 for kids.

And if you’re looking for schwank, you have the Father’s Day Brunch at Blackbird in Collingswood from 10:30AM to 2PM and a Father’s Day Dinner at Cafe Madison in Riverside from 3PM to 7PM.

For the rest of the weekend, you still have plenty of options, such as…

For Friday:

The first Blueberry Festival of the year! And it’s at the Trinity Episcopal Church on West Main Street in Moorestown from 5PM and 9PM.

The first Caribbean Luau of the year! Well, OK, I don’t really know that for sure, but there will be a luau at Renault Winery Resort and Golf in Egg Harbor City. Cocktails are at 6:30, and dinner at 7PM. Those who are late do not get cocktails.

For Saturday:

It’s the Cape May Harbor Fest at the Nature Center of Cape May from 10AM to 5PM. Look for the beer garden as well as a scallop cookoff.

Gregapalooza 2012 rawks out at Gloucester Twp Community Park in Sicklerville. And for the first time, a charity bake off!

And it’s not a weekend in South Jersey without a wine festival. This time, it’s a Wine Festival at Ice House Restaurant in Wildwood.

And starting on Sunday:

It’s Wildwood Restaurant Week from June 17 to June 23. Enjoy a 4-course dinner for $30 at participating locations.

If you care to venture out of South Jersey…

Perhaps dear ol’ Dad is a vegan (hey, we’re an open and affirming website here). Up in NYC there’s going to be a two-day vegan extravaganza called The Seed – A Vegan Experience at 82Mercer on, well, Mercer Street in Manhattan. The cost is $20 for a one-day pass and $30 for both days.

Here’s your cooking class schedule for the weekend:

Friday: Date Night: Easy and Elegant Summer Feast at Sur La Table in Marlton and Date Night: Divine Dinner at Viking Cooking School at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City.

Saturday: Grilling Party and Steakhouse Workshop at Viking Cooking School.

Sunday: Father’s Day Grill Fest at Sur La Table and Southern Specialties from the hit movie “The Help” at Viking Cooking School.
