Eating, Drinking and Cooking in South Jersey This Weekend (1/18-20)

I don’t know about you, but I never seem to get tired to talk about restaurants in Collingswood. It is exciting, vibrant and always changing. Next week, some of these eateries will be serving their take on comfort food for a special price.

It’s Homestyle Classics Week, or as Chef Mark Smith of Tortilla Press puts it “Mom’s cooking with a gourmet touch.” From January 21 to 25, enjoy a prix fixe meal of soul soothing goodness from the following locations: Casona, El Sitio, The Pop Shop, That’s Amore, and Tortilla Press. In addition, Chef Mark’s Tortilla Press Cantina in Merchantville will be participating as well. It’s an interesting mix of locations, so expect a nice variety of dishes being served next week.

Meanwhile, over in nearby Haddon Heights, you have their own Taste of the Town week going on from January 22 to 25. For $25, enjoy a 3 or 4 course meal from Anthony’s Creative Italian Cuisine, Kunkel’s Seafood and Steakhouse, and Elements Cafe.

If you are into craft beer andNJCB_footer_graphic2 all things local, you probably have come across New Jersey Craft Beer. Maybe you follow their site, which updates on a daily basis. You might even have your own NJCB Membership Card for discounts around the state (over 200 places and growing). Well, NJCB is turning 3, and is having their 3rd Year Party Saturday starting at 12PM at The Pour House in Westmont. Meet the folks that make NJCB what it is, and taste some lovely suds.

Down Cape May way (Cape Mat Court House way, more specifically), Natali Vineyards is having their annual Kick the Winter Blues Wine Festival on Saturday from 12PM to 5PM. Admission is free.

And peeking ahead to Monday, The Madison in Riverside is having a Decibel Wines Tasting Dinner at 6:30PM. The cost for the tasting dinner is $55 per person.

Saturday: 4 Classic Desserts Every Cook Should Know at Sur la Table in Marlton, and Dinner at the Brasserie at In The Kitchen Cooking School in Haddonfield.

Sunday: Uncommon Cupcakes at Sur la Table, Heat Transfer at In The Kitchen Cooking School, Kids in the Kitchen: Breakfast Anytime! at Kitchen Kapers in Moorestown, and Titanic Dinner Party at Viking Cooking School at Harrah’s in Atlantic City.
