The Sunday Edition: Back After a Brief Hiatus

Getting right to the crux of the matter…

Restaurant News and Notes

Got to meet the executive chef at The Reeds boutique hotel in Stone Harbor, David Utley. The sample menus for Sax and The Water Star Grille look fabulous. Opening day for them is June 20…The new gastropub and artisan drink mecca-to-be Atlantic City Bottle Company will not be opening until July…Was sad to read the announcement that Melange in Haddonfield was closing after 18 years. Never heard a bad word about that place. Hope that Chef Joe Brown resurfaces somewhere soon…An interesting little article in the Press of Atlantic City about the increasing trend of independently-owned restaurants in the casinos…And we recently had a wonderful day of ethnic exploration in Pleasantville: grocery shopping at La Cosecha and Asian Supermarket, then dinner at Hu Tieu Mien Tay Vietnamese Restaurant. Happiness abounded…

The Farmers’ Market Report

June means that we’re now into the full swing of community farmers’ markets. Merchantville had its opening day on Saturday. Seaside Park will have its market open on Monday (June 3). And Salem’s market will open on June 6. And look for Delran to have its own farmers’ market starting June 18.

Strawberries are here, but for how long? And soon will be coming the blueberries!

Blogging Out Hunger

What would you say to the Dave Matthews Band helping out the Food Bank of South Jersey.

A new food bank opened in Woodbury Heights: The Blessing Room.
