For many, many years, the Moorestown Mall has played second fiddle to the Cherry Hill Mall: Cherry Hill had the bigger stores, the bigger traffic, and, as of late, the bigger upscale restaurants (it still amazes me that we’re actually talking about malls on a food website). It even announced the first mall “restaurant week” that I’d ever heard of, showing off big guns like The Capital Grill and Grand Lux Cafe. But the South Jersey food world got rocked when Marc Vetri announced last September that he would be opening an Osteria at the now-revamped Moorestown Mall this Fall. And on the heels of this shocker, this week Iron Chef Jose Garces announced that he will be opening a Distrito there as well. What’s next? Will Cherry Hill woo Thomas Keller or Daniel Boulud to up the ante? Will we ultimately see an El Bulli in Moorestown? Stay tuned!
