OK, let’s talk a little about German food, because quite frankly you’re not going to find a lot of it in South Jersey. But there are a few places that will be offering German fare for the Oktoberfest festivities, such as…

Mickey & Minnie’s Inn on the White Horse Pike in Cologne is serving up an Oktoberfest menu every day right now that includes potato latkes, zwiebelkucken (a German onion pie), plenty of schnitzel and braten, strudel and German beers and wines. The menu is available from 11AM to 10PM.

The Dutchman’s on LBI, with their big rooftop sign replaced from the one torn up by Sandy, is having an Oktoberfest buffet every Thursday starting at 5PM through mid-October. In addition to the traditional german items, they will have Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest on draft.

Artisan’s in Toms River will have its annual Oktoberfest Dinner on October 11 at 7PM. The cots is $65 a person and will be a multi-course meal with a beer pairing for each course.

Speaking of brew pubs…you think Iron Hill might be doing something for Oktoberfest? Of course they are! Look for the release of their Oktoberfest brew along with other German-styled beers and eats from September 27 to October 13 at their Maple Shade and Voorhees locations.

October 5 will be a big day for celebrations, with Cape May’s Oktoberfest on Jackson Street from 10AM to 5PM and Avalon’s Oktoberfest Block Party on 20th Street between Dune and Ocean Drives from 11AM to 7PM. Historic Smithville will have their Oktoberfest from 10AM to 5PM on October 5 and 6. Also on October 6 is the Grape Stomping at Renault Winery that will include a beer garden and traditional German food.

The annual Oktoberfest Beer, Wine and Food Festival will take place on October 11th and will be held at a new location: Courtyard by Marriott Glassboro on Rowan Boulevard. Tickets are $20 in advance and $30 at the door. Food and drink, yes. Music – sure. Blinf wine and beer tastings? Them too. Guess the weight of a pig and take it home? They will even have that. And more!

Sea Isle City has its annual Octoberfest on October 19 from 11AM to 3PM at Excursion Park.

And lastly, it’s the two-day Oktoberfest celebration at Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City on October 26 and 27. Admission is just $5.

UPDATE! (9/25/13)

Two more Oktoberfest celebrations ot add:

The Haddon Avenue Pub Crawl will be on October 5 from 12PM to 5PM.  The Pour House, Treno and PJ Whelihan’s will be participating.

The Jughandle Inn in Cinnaminson will be having an Oktoberfest bash on Sunday October 6 from 1PM to 5PM. The cost is $25 and will feature Flying Fish Oktoberfest on draft.
