Cape May Food & Wine Celebration

Ok, I will do my best to contain my excitement. But, I have to say that this year’s version of the Cape May Food & Wine Celebration is…really…awesome!!! Rightrightright…composure, composure…

Let’s start with what’s new this year:

Chef Lucas Manteca, one of our favorites, is having two Cape May Farm to Table lunches at his Red Store location on Cape May Point. The event will also include a tour of their Fincas del Mar farm before lunch. The Farm to Table events will be held on September 13 and 20. Tickets are $45 a person.

How about a lobster bake? Alright, how about a Lobster Bake Dinner at Hawk Haven Vineyard & Winery on September 13.  Wine and lobster? I’ll take that deal! Dinner is a 5PM, and the cost is $50.

For those who like chocolate (heh heh…yeah, there may be a few of you out there), The Blue Rose Inn will be hosting a Chocolate Lover’s Feast on September 20 starting at 1PM. This event costs $35 a person.

The Blue Rose Inn will also be the location for a Summer Wine Tasting Dinner on September 17 at 7PM. Wines will be provided by Hawk Haven. The cost for the evening’s wine and dine is $85.

Another of local wineries, Natali Vineyards in Cape May Court House, will be having a Grape Picking event on September 16 starting at 8:30AM. Help pick some grapes, then get wine and lunch for your lard labor. You do need to pay $10 to participate.

The rest of the schedule are familiar fare for this event, but they are hardly boring and humdrum:

If you want to taste the wares of as many places as you can in Cape May, you have A Taste of Cape May on September 21 from 1PM to 3PM at  Convention Hall. Tickets for the event are $30 a person.

A very popular (read: sells out fast!) event is the Chefs’ Dine Around, which takes you by trolley to a number of local dining establishments for a fun evening. There will be four nights for this event: September 14, 15, 17 and 18. The event is $125 per person and seats are very limited.

The Beer Tasting and Bourbon Tasting dinners are back for another year! Aleathea’s will be the location for both dinners. The Beer Tasting Dinner, which is hosted by the lovely and talented Gary Monterosso, will be on September 16, and the Bourbon Tasting Dinner will be on September 20.

There are also be a number of wine tasting and tours, as well as tours of Fisherman’s Wharf. And still there’s more going on. You’re just going to have to go to the website and get the whole story.

The Cape May Food & Wine Celebration will run from September 12 toSeptember 21.
